William B. Stronge

William B. Stronge, Ph.D. Economics, Iowa State University 1971. A native of Ireland, Dr. Stronge received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the National University of Ireland in 1964. He was a professor in the Economics Department at Florida Atlantic University between 1971 and 2006 (Chair, 1981-90). He was FAU Director of International Programs 1990-2003. He is now Professor Emeritus of Economics at Florida Atlantic University and engages in economic consulting and research for a variety of public sector and private sector clients.

In 2008, Dr. Stronge was part of the research team that prepared the Florida’s Ocean and Coastal Economies Report, Phase II for the Florida’s Ocean and Coastal Council and in 2009, he completed a study of the Economic Impact of the North Abaco Port for the Ministry of Transport and the Prime Minister’s Office of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

In 2008 Professor Stronge published The Sunshine Economy, an Economic History of Florida Since the Civil War, University Press of Florida. Recently, he was appointed a Fellow with the Economic Development Research Institute (EDRI) in Palm Beach County. For the past several years he has monitored economic trends in the county and regional economies for EDRI, contributing to the EDRI Quarterly Economic Reports and Economists’ Roundtable. In 2009, he became an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University in the Master’s in Real Estate Program.

Dr. Stronge is a member of the American Economic Association and of the American Statistical Association.
